I am the desert
My waters run miles deep
Cracked earth and parched lips
Whisper the sins
Of your father on the wind
Hold with the hands that let me slip beneath the sand
And this silence is the well
I dipped into when I fell
I’m lost in a sham
Found the role and lost the man
Passion is a spark that pleads to bleed
I wish I could name what eats me
The plague of mundane maybe
Alone with everyone else
Let’s sing the desert a song
And I’ll sing along
Like drifters lost we crossed our tracks
But still we’ll sing hoping someone out there is listening
Believing we’re the hero of our own grand drama
Where here in the desert words are blown away
In the vast expanse I tried to escape
